You probably wouldn’t go to a foreign country without speaking the language or taking a guide…right?? So, why EAT SUSHI when you don’t know how to order it?

The following is a simple quick-list of some of the most popular sushi terms you should definately know:

Futo Maki -  “Large Fat Roll”

Bara Sushi – “Rice and Ingredients Mixed Together like a Rice salad”

Chirashi Sushi – “Bed of Rice topped with Sushimi and other ingredients”

Fukusa Sushi – “sushi where rice is wrapped in paper thin omelette”

Funamori – “Nigiri Sushi wrapped to hold less solid ingredients”

Maki Sushi – “Sushi rice wrapped into a sheet of Nori, rolled with a center of fillings”

Nigiri Sushi – “A molded ball of rice typically topped with raw fish or sweet dill”

Okonomi Zushi – “Homesytle Nigiri sushi”

Tazuna Sushi – “Maki roll with diagonal strips or fish across the top also called rainbow roll”

Sashimi – “Sliced or prepared raw fish”
